This March reflection was not written from certainty, but from the quiet grace of being carried through what I could not control.
It was the month where I learned what it means to be carried.
Not in a way I could see clearly at the time.
Not in a way I would have chosen.
But in a way I can only now begin to understand.
It was a month unlike any I have experienced before.
Emotions felt closer than usual.
Some days carried a quiet heaviness that did not always make sense.
Questions lingered without forming into anything I could fully name.
There were moments of sorrow.
Moments of uncertainty.
Moments where I felt the weight of things beyond my control.
And still, I was not left without something steady to hold onto.
🌿 When a Season Feels Heavier Than It Looks
Some seasons do not arrive with clarity.
They unfold gradually.
So gently at first that you do not realise anything has changed.
Until one day you notice the difference within yourself.
The days feel fuller.
Your heart becomes more aware.
There is a quiet weight that cannot always be explained, yet it is undeniably present.
March carried that kind of feeling.
It was not overwhelming.
It did not consume me.
But it stayed close enough to be known.
And beneath it all, something steady remained.
“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” — Psalm 46:1
🌿 Strength That Did Not Come From Me
There is a kind of strength we try to create for ourselves.
The kind that keeps going.
That holds everything together.
That pushes forward without pause.
But this was different.
This strength did not come from effort.
It met me where I was.
It asked nothing from me, yet gave what I needed.
It was quiet.
Consistent.
Unshaken.
Slowly, without intention, I began to lean into it.
Not because I had everything figured out.
But because I did not.
And in that place of need, something began to take shape.
Trust.
“The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.” — Psalm 23:1
🌿 Holding Grief Without Losing Hope
There are moments when joy and sorrow do not take turns.
They exist side by side.
Grief can be subtle.
A passing thought.
A memory that surfaces without warning.
A reminder of love that still remains, even in absence.
March held moments like that.
Yet even then, grief did not stand on its own.
It was held within something deeper.
A quiet assurance that steadied the heart.
A reminder that what is lost here is not lost forever.
That this life, as real as it feels, is not the end of the story.
The sadness did not disappear.
But it softened.
It settled differently.
“Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” — 1 Peter 5:7
🌿 Peace That Stayed
If there is one thing that defined this month, it is this.
Peace remained.
Not because everything made sense.
Not because every moment felt light.
But because something deeper held its place.
This peace did not come and go.
It did not depend on circumstances.
It did not ask for understanding.
It simply stayed.
A quiet covering over the heart.
A steady presence within the unknown.
Even when the weight was still there, I was not undone by it.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” — Philippians 4:7
🌿 Looking Toward Spring, Toward Renewal
Now, as March draws to a close, something within has shifted.
Not everything is resolved.
Not every question has found its answer.
But there is a quiet change.
A sense of lightness.
A steadiness that was not there before.
A deeper awareness of what truly holds.
There is a gentle anticipation rising.
New beginnings feel closer.
Hope feels more tangible.
Something is opening, even if only just.
Spring is near.
Easter is approaching.
And with it comes a truth that returns again and again.
Life is not defined by the weight of a season.
It is shaped by the One who carries us through it.
“The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.” — Psalm 46:7
“Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” — Psalm 91:1
🌿 this march reflection is A Gentle Invitation
If March has felt heavy for you too, in ways you have not fully put into words, you are not alone.
You do not need to understand everything right now.
You do not need to have clarity before you move forward.
Start here.
Notice where you were sustained.
Notice where peace remained.
Notice what did not break, even when it felt close.
Let that be enough.
🌿 What This Month Left With Me And What I Carry Forward
March did not pass lightly.
But it was not without meaning.
It revealed something I might not have seen in an easier season.
Even when I could not hold everything together, I was still held.
And as a new season begins, that is what I carry with me.
Not answers.
Not certainty.
But a peace that settled more deeply than before.
A trust that grew quietly, without needing to be seen.
And a hope that is strengthening day by passing day.
The kind of hope that reminds me
that even in the weight of certain days,
there is something being prepared beyond what I can yet see.
That even in moments that feel heavy,
there is the promise of something more.
I was never alone.
I was carried.
I shared a poem alongside this reflection, if you feel drawn to something more quiet and unspoken.
This post is part of the Grace in the Gentle Turning series,
a monthly reflection of faith woven through poetry and quiet encouragement,
as each month closes, begins again, and gently turns.
I would love your company on this journey, and you’re always welcome to join me on Pinterest, where I share these moments in quieter ways.
